Tasting Notes:

The 2024 Normans Holbrooks Road Merlot delivers a vibrant and fruit-forward experience, crafted by the esteemed Normans Wines, established in 1853 — one of Australia’s oldest and most respected wine producers.

In the glass, this Merlot shines a vibrant crimson with magenta hues, inviting you into a nose bursting with freshly cut plum, blackberry, and subtle hints of dark chocolate and mint. The palate is beautifully soft and round, offering lush, succulent plum and blackberry fruit, enhanced by velvet-like tannins and a subtle lift of exotic spice.

The winemaking approach focuses on preserving the varietal purity and plush texture. Grapes were harvested in the cool of night, fermented on skins in static potters and rotary fermenters over seven days to maximise natural fruit expression. Warm fermentation followed by post-ferment maceration enhanced structure and developed soft, fleshy tannins. Select parcels underwent oak maturation for added depth and complexity.

Ready to enjoy now, this wine also has the potential to mature gracefully over the short to medium term.

Accolades & Awards:

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

"Fruit-forward and fragrant, the bouquet shows dark plum, thyme, game, and floral aromas, followed by a silky palate that's ripe and supple. Well supported by fine-grained tannins, finishing attractively dry. At its best: now to 2027. $15.00."
