From the western edge of the Barossa Valley comes a Shiraz with pedigree, depth, and a strong sense of place. Gerald Roberts Wines take their name from Gerald Roberts Road, positioned amongst some of the oldest viticultural landscapes on earth. The surrounding country is defined by ironstone-rich, red-brown loam over clay, a profile dating back more than 200 million years, giving the vineyard natural concentration, power, and minerality. These ancient soils have helped build the legacy of the region — making Western Barossa Shiraz world-famous for its richness, structure, and longevity.
In the glass, the Gerald Roberts Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021 is deeply coloured and full-bodied, opening with aromas of black fruits, cracked black pepper, and warm spice, lifted by subtle hints of cedar and cocoa. The palate is plush and layered, driven by flavours of blackberry, blood plum, dark cherry, and a touch of liquorice, all carried by fine grainy tannins and perfectly integrated oak influence. The finish is long, complex, and savoury, showing the hallmark balance of vineyard character and thoughtful winemaking.
Crafted as a single-vineyard Shiraz, this release spent extended time maturing in a combination of American & French oak, building weight, texture, and beautiful spice complexity without overpowering the purity of fruit. The wine has been outstandingly received, including a 95 Point Rating from Winestate Magazine and a 94 Point Rating from Wine Showcase Magazine, reinforcing its status as a premium Western Barossa expression with authenticity, precision, and cellar potential.
This style of Shiraz is built to age gracefully and will develop further complexity over the coming decade. If opening young, allow time in a decanter for the wine to fully unwind and express its depth.
Perfect with pepper-crusted steak, slow-braised lamb shoulder, smoked brisket, roast duck, or a shared cheese board built around aged cheddar, pecorino, and cured meats — dishes that love the wine’s richness and spice.
