Tasting Notes:

Medium red with wonderful depth of colour. Ripe and mature nose reflecting the wines age showing anise, vanillin oak and dark berry fruit. A complex wine which unveils itself when allowed to breathe, the interwoven flavours of blackberry, licorice, plum work in unison with the tannin and oak without allowing them to dominate highlighting the quality fruit chosen from this Shiraz.

Technical:

Fruit was selected from our most premium old vine vineyards in McLaren Vale some dating back to the 1940's. We use a technique where we cold soak for 48 hours and the inoculation began with yeat at a very low rate which allowed us to ensure an even ferment. The juice was cold fermented on skins for around a week then pressed. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation and was then rcked into a mixture of American and French barriques where it spent 2 years prior to bottling with minimal fining and filtration.

Delightful flavor and beautiful strong reddish to rich purple balance and a bottle size and shape that reflects it quality and character. Have recommended this "special" McLaren Vale wine and bottle to friends and shared a bottle with them. Many more of these bottles of 96 point Icon is a real winner and many more of these wines will be purchased if they continue to be offered.
