The Rock Ferry Cawtes Cave Organic Marlborough Pinot Gris 2023 offers a luscious and expressive experience, showcasing the unique terroir of Marlborough through sustainable, organic viticulture. The nose is lifted with honeysuckle, nectarine, and stonefruit aromas, inviting you into a vibrant and fragrant bouquet.
On the palate, this Pinot Gris reveals a textured profile with intriguing mealy aniseed spice characters at the mid-palate, culminating in a long, silken finish that lingers gracefully. The wine embodies the philosophy of Rock Ferry: “fine wine begins with the vine,” reflecting their commitment to balance and sustainability in the vineyard, producing grapes that truly express their unique site.
The grapes were harvested in the cool morning hours, with the juice cold settled for 48 hours before racking to stainless steel tanks and a portion to seasoned oak for fermentation. A careful blend of cultured and wild yeast was used, and fermentation took place in both stainless steel barrels and seasoned oak puncheons. The wine was then racked and matured on fine lees before bottling, adding to its complexity and texture.
This 100% certified organic Pinot Gris has earned 92 points from Cameron Douglas Master Sommelier and 91 points (4.5 stars) from Wine Orbit, highlighting its quality and appeal. Renowned critic Huon Hooke has praised Rock Ferry Wines as “superb,” cementing their reputation for excellence in organic winemaking.
Perfect as a refreshing aperitif or paired with seafood, Asian cuisine, or light salads, the Rock Ferry Cawtes Cave Organic Marlborough Pinot Gris 2023 offers a beautifully balanced and sophisticated taste of Marlborough’s finest organic wines.
92 Point Rated Cameron Douglas MS
"Golden straw hues and lots of polish lead to a bouquet of richness and power. Aromas of bisuity lees and baked pomaceous fruits, quince and fine lees complexity. On the palate a wine of weight and texture, fruit intensity and warming alcohol along with medium acidity frame a core of apple and pear, quince and leesy fruit spice. There's plenty of core varietal flavours, length with a satin-cream touch. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2027"
91 Point Rated Sam Kim Wine Orbit
"Elegant and stylish, the wine shows apricot, green pear, golden apple, and subtle spice aromas on the nose. It's succulent and fleshy in the mouth, delivering silky flow with juicy acidity, finishing refreshing and lingering. At its best: now to 2026."
