Fresh and citrusy yet still supporting a soft, balanced acidity. Texturally granular with a phenolic talcy impression on finish. Flavours of cucumber and lime with a lemon curd/ panna cotta generosity. Upon sitting in an almost empty glass, candied mandarin and Turkish delight complexities are revealed.
Bin 51 Eden Valley Riesling captures many of the attributes of Eden Valley. The region’s high altitude and cool climate induces Riesling with great finesse and elegance with a capacity for long term cellaring. South Australia has gained worldwide recognition for producing definitive world-class Riesling and Eden Valley always features. In their youth, the wines possess focused apple/lime aromas, with a mineral edge and marked natural acidity, contributing significantly to the palate texture and flavour.
95 Points - James Halliday
"Super-fragrant and flowery. Exceptional depth and intensity, but even greater balance and length. It makes you itch to drink it - not spit it out. Flawless."
95 Points - Andrew Caillard MW
"Pale yellow green colour. Intense verbena, camomile, lime zest aromas with some flinty nuances. Beautifully concentrated wine with with lemon curd, lime fruit flavours, tonic water notes, lovely mid-palate richness and long fresh cutting acidity. A delicious mouthwatering wine with the versatility of drinking now or leaving it for a while to developed honeyed, oil skin notes and more richness on the palate. Three months in stainless steel."
94 Points - Huon Hooke
"Very fresh, yeasty new-wine aromas, creamy and floral; dried wildflower scents. The palate is delicate and tight, very dry and bordering on austere. Lime juice and lemon essence join the party. Crisp, taut and long. An impressive young riesling with a big future."
91 Point Rated - Decanter
"Just bottled, this classically styled dry Riesling is pale and interesting with fruit pastille and floral notes on the nose. Fresh and unoaked, there’s plenty of cut and thrust on the palate with grapefruit, lemon and lime with a touch of cucumber and nectarine lurking purposefully in the background. This is mid-weight and appealingly balanced and pure. Good now, but lots of potential to reveal even greater complexity and depth for the next several years. Arguably a notch above the 2016."
