Tasting Notes:

Bright crisp and golden yellow. Bright aromas of nectarine, peach and blood orange fruit backed with complex flavours of almond, oatmeal and hazelnut derived from the French oak barriques. On the palate is a line of lime tanginess and minerality that is evident throughout the palate, whilst still maintaining opulent creaminess from the lees stirring.

Technical:

La Bise Chardonnay comes from two select vineyards within the higher altitude areas of the Adelaide Hills in the sub regions of Oakbank & Lobethal. We want the fruit flavours to shine through so the wine is not oak dominated, rather fruit first with some complimentary oak flavours. 50% new French 225L & 50% 500L – 8 months in oak. A cool and wet growing season. Spring weather in 2020 was cooler and wetter than the last 6 years and the grapes got off to a late start. Crops were higher than normal. Weather gods were on our side as we fell into a warm consistent summer. Ripening was lovely and long ensuring real depth of flavour to most varieties. 2021 gave us quality across the board which rarely happens. We finished with a beautiful Indian summer that moved us into the depths of autumn.

Accolades & Awards:

93 Point Rated - Tyson Stelzer Wine Business Magazine

All the crunch and tension of a cool season in two vineyards high in the Hills (Oakbank and Lobethal) are very accented with a strike of gloriously flinty reduction. It tucks 50% new French oak in its folds, drawing out a ling finish of crunchy grapefruit and lemon.

92 Point Rated - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Beautifully ripe and inviting on the nose showing nectarine, fig, lemon peel and nougat characters with a flinty overtone. The palate delivers succulent fruit flavours with lovely weight and flow, splendidly structured by bright acidity, making it delightfully appealing. At its best: now to 2027"

Highly Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review

"Shrill lemon and lychee aromas, the palate bright and lively if straightforward, with a dusty note and a trace of preserved citrus peels."
