Tasting Notes:

Aroma of crisp stone fruits, nectarine and white peach along with honey dew melon and hints of citrus zest. The palate shows a clean line of nectarine and peach fruit, soft balanced acidity and a rounded textural mouthfeel. The palate finishes clean and dry.

Technical:

Sourced from two vineyards in the Adelaide Hills in the area between the towns of Birdwood and Gumeracha.

Early spring was very mild and dry giving rise to early bud burst and very fast vine growth. By mid-October vines were well advanced and tracking 2-3 weeks ahead of a normal season with most flowering complete by the start of November. After a hot dry December and January rains in late January and early February were most welcome rebuilding soil moisture and slowing ripening. A mild February rounded out what is considered to be an excellent if early vintage.

Made in a lightly oaked fashion with the aim of letting the fruit and natural elegance of Adelaide Hills Chardonnay shine. A combination of barrel fermentation at about 10% and very light staves in tank combined with some lees stirring all with a degree of moderation, building texture and complexity without the wine becoming overly textured and complex.
