Tasting Notes:

The TarraWarra Estate Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2025 is an elegant cool-climate Chardonnay that beautifully reflects the purity, precision and finesse of the Yarra Valley. Produced by TarraWarra Estate, a prestigious James Halliday 5 Red Star-rated winery, this exceptional release benefits from a warm, dry growing season that delivered fruit with remarkable concentration, vibrant aromatics and beautifully balanced natural acidity.

Handpicked fruit was cooled overnight before whole-bunch pressing, with fermentation and maturation taking place over eight months in a combination of French oak puncheons, demi-muids and barriques, including 12% new oak. Extended lees maturation adds texture and complexity while preserving the wine's natural freshness and regional expression.

The bouquet opens with delicate flinty minerality, lifted cumquat blossom and a subtle hint of petrichor, creating an elegant and intriguing aromatic profile. The palate is refined and beautifully layered, revealing flavours of just-ripe white peach, nashi pear and fresh citrus, supported by a fine chalky texture that provides structure and length. Bright natural acidity and restrained French oak combine seamlessly to deliver a wine of exceptional balance, precision and a long, sophisticated finish.

Critically acclaimed, the 2025 vintage has been awarded 93 Points by Tom Kline of WinePilot, 93 Points by Mike Bennie of The Wine Front and 90 Points by Huon Hooke of The Real Review, further reinforcing TarraWarra Estate's reputation as one of the Yarra Valley's benchmark producers of premium Chardonnay.

This refined Chardonnay is an outstanding partner to freshly shucked oysters, grilled scallops, roast chicken, creamy seafood pasta, pork loin or soft, creamy cheeses. Beautifully approachable now, it also has the structure to reward careful short to medium-term cellaring.

Accolades & Awards:

93 Point Rated - Tom Kline Wine Pilot
"An attractive mix of floral and fruit tones opens proceedings — citrus blossom, Meyer lemon and white peach sit above cashew cream and chamomile, with subtle preserved lemon brine in the background. Fresh and bright, there’s a lovely melding of fruit and savouriness that carries through on the palate, where ample weight and texture sit in balance with lift and energy. White peach, ripe lemon, cashew and salinity mirror the nose, the fruit nicely wrapped in chalky phenolics and fresh acidity to good length. Approachable and energetic, but with enough complexity to hold the attention. A textbook Estate-level Chardonnay at a more-than-fair price."

93 Point Rated - Mike Bennie The Wine Front
"Various fruit sources and some different French oak barrels conspire in the winery to produce the Estate offering here. Very nice, is the gist. Does chardonnay justice in softness, freshness, cut of minerality, inherent stone fruit, apple, green pineapple, citrus fruit characters, savouriness of woody spices and some vanilla wafer and nougat notes for good measure. Flows well, feels set to a pleasing medium weight, refreshing too. Easy as, good times."

90 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Light yellow with a pungent sulfide bouquet - really quite confronting - and for those who enjoy sniffing their chardonnay this could be off-putting. The palate is lean and sinewy, tensioned and brisk, with liberal tangy acidity and firmness which creates a trace of final bitterness. A polarising wine, but the sulfide does dissipate somewhat with airing."
