Tasting Notes:

From one of Australia’s most iconic family-owned producers, the 2021 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium is a masterfully blended red that captures the elegance and depth of Eden Valley and Barossa fruit. The vintage offered ideal ripening conditions, with mild weather and balanced rainfall delivering pristine grapes with brilliant colour, structure, and acidity.

Composed of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, this wine opens with deep crimson hues and a lifted bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, plum, rhubarb, and cassis. Hints of sage, anise, black pepper, violets, and spice add aromatic intrigue. The palate follows with layers of dark berries, bramble, cassis, and bay leaf, wrapped in fine acidity and polished tannins. The finish is long, savoury, and impeccably structured.

Critically acclaimed with 95 Points from Aaron Brasher (The Real Review), 94 Points and Silver Medal from Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion), and 92 Points from Angus Hughson (Wine Pilot), this wine is testament to Henschke’s uncompromising quality and regional expression.

Perfectly paired with herb-crusted lamb rack, roasted duck with cherry glaze, or aged cheddar for a decadent experience.

Accolades & Awards:

95 Point - Rated Aaron Brasher The Real Review
"Deep, dark and impenetrably opaque in the glass. Brooding aromas of mulberry, satsuma plum, anise, bramble, spice and graphite. Full, rich, fleshy and quite primary and plush in flavour. Lashings of black fruits, sweet spice, choc-mint and a briary earthiness. The tannins are textured, firm and shapely and there’s plenty of lively acidity ensuring the decadent fruit behaves itself."

94 Point - Rated Dave Brookes Halliday Wine Companion

"A seamless blend of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot; each variety laying down their individual characteristics for the good of the great whole. There is excellent length of flavour here, with plummy merlot flesh, spice, sage and density from the shiraz, gently flecked blackberry tones from the cabernet and the liminal leafy edge of the franc. A bright, minerally cadence and long, black-fruited finish wrap things up from this very strong vintage."

92 Point Rated - Angus Hughson The Winepilot
"This seamless blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from 2021 displays beautiful approachability, with vibrant blackberry cassis, slate, violets and Szechuan pepper aromas. The cooler vintage shows in more open-knit tannins than usual but the exceptional balance will still provide good staying power."
