Tasting Notes:

The Bay of Fires Tasmania Pinot Noir 2023 is an exceptional expression of cool-climate Pinot Noir, showcasing the perfect balance of complexity, elegance, and intensity that Tasmania is renowned for. The 2023 vintage was challenging, with a long cool growing season and disease pressure, but the result is a wine that demonstrates remarkable depth of flavour, balanced structure, and refined elegance. This Pinot Noir is bright red in colour with a vibrant and complex nose. Sweet, ripe raspberry and cherry fruit dominate, supported by subtle savoury notes of dried herbs, black olive, and cinnamon plum blossom. The wine's elegance is matched by its powerful intensity, creating a harmonious balance between ripe, moderate tannins and fresh, sweet cherry fruit. Spice nuances enhance the complexity without overpowering the fruit, and the finish is long, elegant, and persistent – a signature characteristic of great Pinot Noir. This wine pairs wonderfully with gourmet dishes like roasted duck with cherry sauce, grilled salmon, and mushroom risotto. It’s also an ideal match for charcuterie, soft cheeses like brie, or even a simple roasted vegetable platter. Whether enjoyed now or aged for further complexity, this Pinot Noir epitomises the elegance and richness Tasmania's cool climate vineyards are known for, making it a standout example of modern Australian Pinot Noir.

This wine has garnered prestigious accolades, including a 97-point Platinum Award at the Decanter World Wine Awards, and 95 points from Dave Brookes at the Halliday Wine Companion. It was also rated as one of the equal highest-rated wines in the world at the Decanter World Wine Awards, further cementing its status as one of Tasmania's finest Pinot Noirs.

Accolades & Awards:
97 Point Rated - Decanter World Wine Awards

"Displaying unrivalled panache and charisma: brilliant raspberries and black cherries undulate over the smoked oyster decadence and fold ceremoniously into the focused oak frame. Utterly delicious with succulent acidity, cashmere tannins and a red berry finish."

95 Point Rated - Dave Brookes Halliday Wine Companion
"Bright ruby with a lifted, instantly appealing nose of spiced red cherry, red plum and raspberry fruits. Hints of exotic spice, turned leaf litter, charcuterie, amaro, mushroom broth, crushed stone, dried citrus rind and wildflowers. There's a concentration and fruit sweetness here that will win many a fan, but there is complexity and nuance, too, and I can see this being a real crowd-pleaser. It's delicious."
