Tasting Notes:

The Alamos Argentina Malbec 2023 is a striking expression of Mendoza’s most famous grape, crafted at high-altitude vineyards nestled at the foothills of the Andes. In the glass, it shows a deep purple colour with vibrant violet highlights. The nose is bright and lifted, offering blackberries, floral notes, and a touch of toast, while the palate is rich and full, bursting with concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit, intertwined with subtle chocolate and sweet spice from gentle oak ageing. Silky tannins carry the finish with elegance and poise.

The Alamos label is part of the celebrated Catena Zapata estate, one of Argentina’s most respected wineries. Nicola Catena first planted Malbec in Mendoza in 1902, and today, Nicholas Catena and his daughter Laura continue to lead the estate with a focus on producing world-class Malbec. Their pristine vineyards sit between 920 and 1,120 metres above sea level, where cool nights and warm days allow slow ripening and the development of rich flavour and structure. Hand harvesting and careful selection ensure only the best grapes make it into the bottle, delivering consistency and quality year after year.

The 2023 vintage embodies this tradition, offering lush fruit-forward character and impeccable balance. It is the ideal red for pairing with a juicy rare steak, barbecued sausages, lamb cutlets, or rich mushroom dishes, where its bold flavours and smooth finish shine alongside hearty cuisine.
