Crafted with precision, passion, and an unyielding commitment to quality, the St Hugo Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022 is a powerful expression of Barossa terroir and heritage. Named in honour of Hugo Gramp, born in the heart of the Barossa in 1895, this wine continues the St Hugo legacy of excellence that began with its first vintage in 1980. Each bottle stands as a testament to craftsmanship, balance, and the art of fine winemaking.
In the glass, it presents a deep, dense ruby hue, signalling the concentration within. The bouquet is layered and complex, exuding dark chocolate, liquorice, and ripe plum, lifted by elegant notes of spice and savoury herbs. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, unfolding with dark berry fruit richness, supple tannins, and perfectly integrated oak that adds dimension and length. The texture is sumptuous and dense, leading to a lingering, savoury finish that is both powerful and graceful.
This Shiraz is built to reward patience — careful cellaring for up to 10 years will unveil even greater depth and sophistication, with tertiary notes of cedar, mocha, and earth emerging over time.
Ideal food pairings include slow-roasted lamb shoulder, pepper-crusted steak, or wild mushroom risotto, where the wine’s bold fruit and spice harmonise beautifully with rich, savoury dishes.
The St Hugo Barossa Shiraz 2022 has been met with outstanding acclaim, earning a 95 Point Rating and Gold Medal at the Barossa Wine Show, a 92 Point Rating from Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion), and recognition as a 16-time international award winner. St Hugo also proudly holds a 5 Red Star Winery rating in the Halliday Wine Companion, cementing its place among Australia’s elite producers.
A wine of substance, structure, and soul — a quintessential Barossa Shiraz that embodies both power and poise, destined to impress today and for years to come.
92 Point Rated - Dave Brookes James Halliday Wine Companion
"Deep magenta-splashed crimson with fruit tones of blackberry, Doris plum and boysenberry fruits. Hints of baking spices, citrus blossom, blueberry pie, licorice, white pepper, creamy vanillin oak and earth. There's a swell of glossy black and dark fruits, with fine-grained, sandy tannin grip and a finish that tenses before releasing a blast of cassis and plum."
