Tasting Notes:

The Grant Burge The Holy Trinity Barossa Valley Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre 2023 is a benchmark Barossa GSM, continuing one of the region's longest-running and most celebrated blends. Crafted by Grant Burge, a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron, this wine combines old vine Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre to deliver exceptional complexity, elegance and regional character. Grenache from 80+ year-old bush vines was handpicked, traditionally fermented and matured in large French oak foudres, creating a wine of remarkable depth and finesse.

Bright cherry, raspberry and dried herbs lift from the glass, accompanied by milk chocolate, green peppercorn, ginger and nutmeg. The palate is generous yet beautifully refined, revealing layers of red berries, cranberry, spice and subtle savoury complexity. Fine slate-like tannins and vibrant natural acidity provide outstanding balance, leading to a long, seamless finish that reflects the quality of the outstanding 2023 Barossa vintage.

Awarded 95 Points by Andrew Caillard MW, 95 Points and a Gold Medal at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show, 94 Points by Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion) and 93 Points by Tony Love and Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot), the Grant Burge The Holy Trinity Barossa Valley Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre 2023 is an exceptional partner for roast lamb, chargrilled meats, slow-cooked beef, game dishes and mature cheeses. A classic Barossa GSM that beautifully balances power, freshness and elegance.

Accolades & Awards:

“More refined and complete. Medium deep colour. Dark plum, raspberry, dark chocolate hint black olive aromas with ginger notes. Concentrated dark plum, raspberry fruits with roasted walnut / praline notes, fine grainy textures and underling acidity. Lovely mid palate density and flow. 38% Grenache 31% Shiraz 30% Mataro.”

''A classic Barossan GSM blend. Deep crimson in the glass with aromas of macerated satsuma plum, black cherry and blackberry fruits with hints of spice, ginger cake, dried raspberries, cold tea, wildflowers, dried citrus rind, dried meats, anise and earth. It's a more robust rendition of the style with plush dark and black fruits sliding to savoury on the finish and layered with spice and meaty nuance. Fine, sandy tannins and a long draw of flavour as the wine trails off.''

93 Point Rated - Tony Love Wine Pilot

''The Holy Trinity, you might think, refers to the three varieties within, but in fact it is named after a church in the Lyndoch district of the Southern Barossa Valley, much of the fruit for this traditionally sourced from vineyards in this sub-region. A rich history, and a seductively rich wine as well, the native bush fragrance of Grenache and spice of the Shiraz and Mourvèdre synchronising into an earthy, mineralled aroma, followed by an attractively sweet fruited palate, this time plum and chocolate in harmony, warmly stimulating and generous in its communal mindset.''

93 Point Rated - Ken Gargett Wine Pilot

''This was one of the earlier versions of the famous Rhône blend made here and it is still one of our more exciting efforts. From Barossa bush vines of 80 years of age and more, the blend is 38% Grenache, 31% Shiraz and 30% Mourvèdre. The remaining 1%? Apparently, that falls into accounting roundup errors. Maturation is in large French oak foudres. The wine is made by Craig Stansborough. I’m not sure if Craig was with Grant when he started back in the late 80s, but I can’t remember a time when he wasn’t. In other words, few people in Australia have more experience with this style. An attractive dark blood red, this is tight and concentrated, big and bold. There is very good length with some grip on the finish, but the texture remains sleek throughout. The nose reveals notes of chocolates, mushrooms, coffee grinds, warm earth and cranberries with some spicy touches throughout. A lovely example of the style, this will provide enjoyable drinking over the next ten to twelve years.''
