Tasting Notes:

The Kilikanoon Omen Shiraz 2021 is a powerful yet refined South Australian Shiraz crafted by the iconic Kilikanoon winery — winner of James Halliday Winery of the Year and a 5 Red Star Halliday-rated producer. Sourced from premium low-yielding vineyards and matured for 14 months in French oak hogsheads, this highly acclaimed release has earned 97 Points & 5 Stars from Sam Kim Wine Orbit alongside 96 Points & 5 Stars from Russell Gallagher Vinomasters.

In the glass, it reveals a deep inky purple hue with lifted aromas of blackberry, plum and vanilla layered with pepper, eucalyptus and subtle liquorice spice. The palate is rich, plush and beautifully balanced, flowing with concentrated dark fruit, dark chocolate and mint characters supported by fine powdery tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, smooth and velvety, showcasing both power and elegance in true Kilikanoon style.

Perfect with rosemary lamb cutlets, chargrilled steak, slow-cooked beef or aged cheddar, this premium Shiraz is drinking superbly now while also rewarding careful cellaring through to 2040.

Accolades & Awards:

97 Point Rated & 5 Stars - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Powerful and sumptuous with refinement and sophistication, the perfumed bouquet shows blackberry, cake spice, potpourri, cedar, and dark cocoa characters. The palate delivers excellent concentration, a plush mouthfeel, and velvety texture, wonderfully structured by chalky tannins, making it opulent and delectably appealing. At its best: now to 2040. $150.00. www.kilikanoon.com.au. March 2026."

96 Point Rated & 5 Stars Russell Gallagher Vinomasters

"Deep inky-purple with a vibrant crimson rim, showing excellent concentration and youthful vibrancy. The nose is lifted and complex, with intense blackberry, dark plum and mulberry compote, layered with dark chocolate, liquorice, cracked pepper, violet and subtle toasty oak. On the palate this is a powerful, rich and beautifully structured Clare Valley. Plush dark fruit sits at the core, interwoven with espresso, savoury spice, mint and fine, velvety tannins that provide serious grip and impressive length, with minerality and earth. Bright acidity keeps the wine fresh and energetic, while the finish is long, harmonious and full of character. Outstanding Clare Valley Shiraz: bold, complex and built to age beautifully."
