A wet winter & spring impacted fruit set, leading to reduced yields. Yet, 2022 was an outstanding vintage. Warm, dry conditions in summer & autumn provided exceptional growing & ripening conditions. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong flowering of native flora. Remarkable quality. 

The fruit was harvested between 16th - 27th March 2022 across our three sites in Metricup, Wilyabrup & Karridale. Bottled November 2023. 

The varieties were fermented separately in a mix of open & closed fermenters & spent between eight to 21 days on skins. Further aging in oak in separate batches took place until blending. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in both French barriques & hogsheads of which 5% were new.

This 2022 Juniper Crossing 'Original Red' is an impressive blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot along with a tiny amount of Petit Verdot.
