Tasting Notes:

The Bay of Fires Tasmania Pinot Noir 2024 reflects the producer’s philosophy of showcasing Tasmania’s most expressive cool-climate styles—wines defined by purity, fruit intensity and remarkable refinement. Sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the island, this Pinot Noir is crafted with a focus on nurturing elegance while capturing the ripe, vibrant fruit profiles unique to each sub-region. Basket pressing and separate handling of individual ferments allow the winemaker to build a final blend of impressive complexity, weaving together parcels that each contribute depth, finesse and persistence. The result is a wine that beautifully balances richness with delicacy, embodying what makes Tasmanian Pinot Noir so distinctive.

Bright and vibrant in the glass, it opens with aromas of sweet, ripe raspberry and fresh cherry, lifted by subtle spice and an undercurrent of forest floor complexity that emerges with time in the glass. The palate is refined and silky, delivering poised red-berry fruit, fine natural acidity and a gentle savoury thread that adds shape and definition. Long, graceful and impeccably balanced, it carries remarkable length of flavour—an elegant expression that continues the lineage of high-quality cool-climate Pinot Noir Tasmania is celebrated for.

This style pairs seamlessly with herb-roasted duck breast, crispy-skin salmon, mushroom risotto, chargrilled quail, beetroot salad with goat’s cheese or a simple platter of cured meats. The wine’s fine structure and subtle spice also complement dishes featuring truffle, sage or thyme.

Accolades & Awards:

96 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review

"Tapping into vineyards across Tasmania, this from the valleys of Coal River and Derwent districts north and northwest of Hobart. Built to a varietal style, darker cherries and kitchen herb aromas plus dark rose before the palate receives some Deep, bright red-purple colour, a very promising colour. The bouquet is powerful, laced with smoky reduction and layered with nutty and dark cherry characters. The wine is full and plush on the tongue, with silky tannins, sweet fruit core and an utterly delicious flavour profile. Great balance, length and immediate charm. Gorgeous wine."

94 Point Rated - Tony Love Wine Pilot

"Tapping into vineyards across Tasmania, this from the valleys of Coal River and Derwent districts north and northwest of Hobart. Built to a varietal style, darker cherries and kitchen herb aromas plus dark rose before the palate receives some complexity with wooded spice notes that add texture as well as a sweet spot mid-length, a soft, feathery feel in the denouement. It all comes together as a logical and finished expression."
