Tasting Notes:

Two Italian Boys Shiraz 2019

The palate is ripe, rounded and soft with velvety tannins and sweet mulberry juiciness. The persistent aftertaste is of black currant jam and toast.  This is a rich full weighted wine with a well-rounded tannic structure that is smooth and generous in fruit flavour.  The Shiraz is a rewarding drink now but will develop further complexity with 2-3 years bottle age.  Whilst this wine will complement Italian cuisine, especially tomato based pasta dishes.


Reserve Shiraz 2018 Cleanskin

Bright purple with red edge. Ripe berry and plum with some spie and pepper on nose. The palate is rich with ripe black berries and plums the tannins are smooth and work inline with the fruit length. Some vanillin and toasty character provides depth and character to this well balanced wine.


Two Italian Boys Sangiovese 2017

Garnet red and brightly translucent in the glass, the bouquet displays lifted cherry, leather, plums and licorice. The palate is supple with lively acidity and fine assertive tannin structure supporting the the primary fruits and gamey complexity one expects from this Italian variety. The finish is of savoury spices, a perfect food wine.


Normans Holbrooks Road Merlot 2019

Vibrant crimson and magenta hue. Freshly cut plum and blackberry aromas, with hints of brooding dark chocolate and mint. Beautifully soft, fruit driven which is round and succulent. There is sweet plum and blackberry fruit with a full, rich texture and velvet like tannins with a hint of exotic spices.


Niche Shiraz 2018

Deep purple with pretty crimson red colour around the edge. Ripe sweet blackberry with touches of cherry and plum backed up by the slightest touch of vanilla oak. There are lifted aromas of plums and black cherries with hints of violets. Some pepper and spice add complexity along with subtle oak character


Niche Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Crimson with magenta/purple hues. Classic, varietal aromas of cassis with some choc-mint all work seamlessly with plums and soft oak undertones. A medium bodied wine with a rounded fruit driven palate that features rich, round velvety tannins, with plum, cassis and cherry flavours whilst the oak is soft and just a passenger.


Andrew Peace Kangaroo Reserve Shiraz Cabernet Grenache

This is a full bodied red that is soft, smooth and full of ripe forest fruit flavours. Produced by one of Australia’s most respected winemakers.





Technical:

Normans Holbrooks Road Merlot 2019

The fruit was picked in the cool of night then fermented on skins in static potters and rotary fermenters for a period of seven days to retain as much of the luscious natural fruit flavour as possible. Warm temperatures at the early stages of fermentation along with three days of post ferment maceration helped develop soft fleshy fruit and tannins while helping build structure. Following the pressing process, clarification and final blending the fruit was matured with select parcels having oak maturation. Great to drink now, but will mature and develop complexity over the short to medium term.
