Technical:

Songlines Estates Basket Pressed McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

“Songlines” are invisible pathways which criss cross the land all over Australia and stretch across continents and ages. The exceptional wine is named Songlines as it perfectly encapsulates the importance of the land, people and knowledge learned over time and across continents.

2021 growing season had very good winter rainfall. A dry spring followed encouraging healthy growth. The long dryIndian summer that followed meant great concentration of flavours. The conditions continued through autumn with warm conditions which in turn meant disease was not a factor and contributed to natural fermentation. After handpicking whole bunches we allowed the fruit to be cold macerated for 24 hours to ensure brightness and depth of flavour. After this fermentation occurred in small open top fermenters with and we hand plunged over a two-week period. Then we basket pressed and drained into 30% New French oak and 70% older American oak hogshead barrels for a period of 12 months before bottling with minimal fining or filtration to ensure the wines true character was fulfilled.

A wine that will stand the test of time, drinking well now or over Next 10 years.

Three Bunches South Australia Shiraz 2019

Three Bunches Shiraz is a medium body, easy drinking, food friendly style. Structure, flavour and elegance  are in balance to deliver a wine for all to enjoy. The balance of silky tannins, ripe fruit flavours and distinct varietal character of the grape create the perfect shiraz flavour combination for easy drinking.

Normans Holbrooks Road Grenache 2021

In 1853 when Jesse Norman purchased seven hectares of land on which he planted vines. A winery was later established at Holbrooks Road as his winemaking business expanded. This win pays tribute to Jesse's foresight and belief in Australia's wine industry.

McPherson Andrews Reserve Shiraz 2020

The grapes for this Reserve Shiraz were picked and crushed during the cool of night, thus ensuring the retention of varietal character, while modern winemaking techniques were employed throughout, all of which help to create the famous McPherson style. Fermentation took place in sweeping arm red fermenters, giving the wine a denser, richer colour and allowing for gentle flavour extraction. Careful attention was also paid to the oak selection for the Shiraz. This wine was aged on French oak for nine months, giving the wine a smooth and elegant oak influence.

Andrew McPherson established his winery in 1968 and is known for his famous Australian Shiraz. He has released this special Reserve Shiraz, made from the best grapes of the vintage, as the flagship wine for the McPherson Family Winery.

McPherson Andrews Reserve Shiraz 2020

Jeni Port James Halliday's Wine Companion

"Matured in French oak for 9 months. A reserve wine at $19? You don't see that too often. That said, this generous, young shiraz has a lot going for it, producing some pretty good quality for the price. Purple and living looking in the glass, it arrives with ripe plum and summer berry aromas. In the red-fruit spectrum and medium bodied, it's nicely spiced and supported by fine tannins."
