Look for a vibrant delicate pink hue with a fine persistent bead. Subtle nose of Turkish Delight and rose petal florals. Mousse creaminess and strawberries on the tongue with a refreshing finish.
The name Jansz pays homage to Tasmania’s namesake, the Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman who first sighted the island in 1642. In fact, when it was established in 1975, the Jansz vineyard was originally named after Tasman’s ship, the Heemskerk. In 1986, esteemed Champagne house - Louis Roederer partnered with the owners of Heemskerk Wines to produce Tasmania’s first premium vintage sparkling wine. They saw the similarities between the climate here and the famous wine region of their homeland. In 1997, the Hill-Smith family purchased the vineyard and began the journey that has seen Jansz Tasmania become the most highly regarded sparkling wine house in Australia.
Fruit grown on selected, cool climate vineyards across Tasmania. Specially selected and crafted individual batches form the basis of this Rosé. Based upon Jansz wines from several vintages. Batches are kept separate during winemaking to maximize blending options and final wine complexity. Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle and is aged on yeast lees for as long as possible. Average age of the final blend is around eighteen months. 68% Pinot Noir, 26% Chardonnay, 6% Pinot Meunier
94 Points James Halliday Wine Companion
"A bottle-fermented blend of 60% pinot noir, 26% chardonnay and 6% pinot meuniere. Pale salmon-pink; the strawberry fruit from early-picked pinot noir powers through the palate without challenging the texture and structure of a delicious rose. Drink to 2016."
