The underlying rich medley of fresh & roasted stone fruit is laced with toast and spice, with a crisp zesty hit of ginger on the lingering finish.
The Turkey Flat Barossa Valley White blend is sourced from the Bethany and Stonewell regions of the Barossa. Unique to the 2018 blend, this wine is an even split of Marsanne and Roussanne. Picked early to hold freshness and preserve acidity, both varieties were whole bunch pressed to new and second use French Puncheons. Fermentation was completed on full solids to promote funk and layers of spice. The wine rested in oak over winter seeing regular battonage, which has added richness and length to the palate before bottling in Spring.
93 Point Rated - Gary Walsh The Wine Front
“Barossa blend of Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne. Snuffed candle and the wax, honeysuckle, stonefruit, tangerine and spice. Here be flavour with crunch and texture, cool tang to the acidity with flint through wax and saltine cracker complexity. Layers of flavour, plenty of length, and all round good drinking to be had. Good fruit, sure, but inspired winemaking too.”
92 Point Rated - Ned Goodwin Wine Companion
"Sourced from the estate's Bethany and Stonewell vineyards, this is crafted with the white triumvirate of the Rhone: marsanne, viognier and roussanne. Whole-bunch pressed, with a lick of skin contact and partial barrel work, the result is good with the caveat of edgy oak. Otherwise, toasted nut, lanolin, curd, apricot pith and rooibos tea, all managing to stand out from the oaky edges."
Nick Butler The Real Review
"Rich yellow colour centre to rim. Ripe peaches and nectarines, apricots and buttered toast, it's an imposing and serious bouquet. The palate is slightly disjointed - varieties yet to meld, a bitterness to the finish. Love the intent of this wine and believe it is on the right path."
