The wine is straw coloured with a bright array of stone fruits aromas
including peach and white plum – with some creamy lemon lift. A generous
mouth filling palate laden with intensely flavoured fruit,
interestingly tending more towards the peach spectrum of flavours than
the normal citrus. There is a nice creamy texture with some oak spice
adding to an overall classic Chardonnay release.
Stonier Chardonnay was fermented in a mix of French oak barriques and
puncheons (10% new), for a total maturation period of 10 months, with a
small percentage also matured in tank. Several batches from our coolest
vineyards were allowed to undergo the acid-softening malo-lactic
fermentation (approximately 50%), with the remaining portion withheld to
preserve the lovely pure regional Chardonnay.

Last year’s release needed a little extra time in bottle but this release is ready and raring to go. It’s very good too. Stonefruit, grapefruit, a slip of something sweeter like cashew or candied fruit and good energy and drive. Chardonnay with sunny varietal character and verve. Can’t go wrong here.
Highly Rated Stuart Knox The Real Review
Medium straw-yellow colour. Cashew, lemon curd and oyster-shell aromas. Bright and youthful across the palate but has enough saline minerality to provide interest. Everything is in its right place without over working. A fresh style offering good value

With decent acidity in 2020, most of this went through mlf, adding a softness across the palate. More white stone fruit than citrus and creamy lees flavours throughout, yet lighter bodied. Overall a pleasing drink.
