Technical:

Lowlands Wines is a company owned and operated by the Holdaway family in Marlborough, New Zealand. Our seven vineyards (totalling 155 ha) are all in the Lower Wairau/Dillons Point sub-region of Marlborough. They include property continuously owned by the Holdaway family since 1864.

We aim to work with natural systems and processes where possible, employing an innovative and biologically regenerative approach to grape growing that focuses on improving the quality of our soil and the health of our vines. Experience has shown us that this results in optimal flavour production and balance in our Sauvignon Blanc wines.
We are fully accredited with Sustainable Winegrowing NZ, and are using methods such as cover crops, compost applications, and biological controls to actively regenerate our soils and vineyard ecosystems. We employ the latest recycling sprayer technology and precision applications based on detailed soil mapping. Ownership of a production forest in the Upper Wairau valley further enhances our positive environmental impact.
