Pale green with a hint of straw. Gooseberry, spiced citrus, green apple & passionfruit with background notes of smoked cashews & fresh herbs Well-weighted, smooth & textural. Fruit salad flavours are complemented by subtle hints of herbs & spices. Refreshing, long, tangy finish.
An outstanding vintage. The season commenced with a wet start to June when rainfall was 30% above average. From this point onwards the months dried to below average rainfall & maximum temperatures crept up above the long-term averages. Lower yields, but very high quality Fruit Source The fruit was picked between 17th - 19th February 2020 at a Baumé between 11.4 – 12.0 Be°. The Semillon comes from our Wilyabrup vineyard whilst the Sauvignon Blanc is grown on our Karridale vineyard to the south. Both vineyards are sustainably farmed following organic princples
A blend of Semillon (52%) & Sauvignon Blanc (48%). 80% was fermented in stainless steel tanks & 20% fermented in barrel. The barrel batches were wholebunch-pressed & wild-fermented, whilst the tank portion was cold-fermented to aid with both flavour & freshness. Both components were stirred on lees to help build texture
93 Point Rated - Erin Larkin James Halliday Wine Companion
"52/48% semillon/sauvignon blanc. 20% barrel ferment for 5 months (5% new). It's under $20 and it's seen time in barrel – not bad. And certainly a sign of the times. Complex aromas of cassis, passionfruit, sugar snap pea and jasmine tea adorn the nose, while the palate is textural, complex, and punches way above its pricepoint. Cracking little wine."
Stuart Knox - The Real Review
"Pale lemon hue. A nose of candied peel, soft green herbs and sea-spray. Bright and fresh on entry, lemon drops and pea shoots show throughout. Good flow and decent length. A very easy-drinking style that is to be enjoyed, not over-analysed"
