Tasting Notes:

The beautiful 2023 vintage with its perfumed nose of peach, lime peel and chamomile. The palate is brimming with yellow-fleshed peach, grapefruit and an edge of guava, all framed by a juicy, limey acidity and mouth-filling texture. This wine has a long, flavoursome finish with on-going layers of delicious texture and spice.

Technical:

The Austrian Grüner Veltliner grape is one of the current 'it' varieties amongst wine lover circles, loved for its texture, natural freshness and versatility with food.

The Adelaide Hills region is where the variety is proving most successful, a fact that can be attributed wholly and solely to the inspired work of Hahndorf Hill guru Larry Jacobs. Jacobs prophetically first planted the variety in the region in 2006, since then many Hills producers have followed suit. But the Hahndorf Hill GRU remains the gold standard of Australian Gruner.

With a lengthy history of trophies, gold medals and outstanding reviews this is a clear benchmark for the variety in Australia - if you want to see what Gruner is all about, there is simply no better example in the country.

Perfectly matched with all Asian cuisine, white meats, seafoods and vegetarian dishes. But most excitingly, here is the ultimate white wine that will match perfectly with your favourite rare sirloin steak!

Gruner Veltliner is a variety that ages well and this wine should develop splendidly for up to 8 years.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated - Stuart Knox The Real Review

"Light lemon colour with pear and nettles on the nose. Grapefruit and apple fruits on entry, hint of leafy herbs at the core and well framed by fresh acidity. It has a good length and the finish shows detail and lingers long"

94 Point Rated - Mike Bennie James Halliday Wine Companion

"Classy stuff. Quite surprisingly potent in its concentration, layered with delightful spice elements, a savoury undertow of green almond, some pleasing varietal root-vegetable characters in the mix. What a delight! Fragrant with its florals, nashi pear, tonic water and radish notes, similar to taste with a good input of kohlrabi and radish again, a lick of nuttiness continues through the finish. So composed, finishes in the distance, feels top tier."

95 Point Rated - Australian & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show 2023

"Tropical fruit flavours, payapa, rich tropical fruits - Honey dew. Richness on palate, a richer style. Sherbert character that is very elegant."

95 Point Rated - Australian & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show 2023

"Solidsy and lifted. Apple rind and some florals. Plump fruit drawn out with nice acid and tight mineral edged phenolic. Nice pith and feel. Complex."
