Tasting Notes:

The Franklin Tate Estate Margaret River Chardonnay 2021 is a beautifully crafted and award-winning white wine that showcases the finesse, purity and generosity that have made Margaret River one of Australia’s most celebrated Chardonnay regions. Produced using a thoughtful combination of new and seasoned French oak and carefully selected yeast strains, this release has been designed to maximise fresh fruit aromatics, enhance mouthfeel and build layered complexity throughout the palate.

In the glass, it opens with lifted aromas of ripe tropical fruits, stone fruit and juicy melon, seamlessly complemented by creamy nougat and subtle cashew nut characters derived from oak maturation. These inviting aromatics flow effortlessly into a vibrant and expressive palate, where flavours of white peach, nectarine and honeydew melon take centre stage, supported by bright natural acidity that brings energy and precision to the wine.

The oak influence is subtle and beautifully integrated, contributing refined notes of hazelnut, soft vanilla spice and gentle toast without overpowering the fruit core. As the wine develops in the glass, layers of nougat, citrus zest and creamy texture build through the mid-palate, leading into a long, polished finish marked by lingering toasty oak and refreshing acidity. The result is a Chardonnay that delivers both richness and freshness in perfect balance.

This highly acclaimed release has earned a Gold Medal at the Women’s Wine & Spirit Awards, Double Gold at the China Wine & Spirit Awards, and a strong 90-point rating from Wine Enthusiast Magazine, confirming its quality, consistency and international appeal. Now available as part of a receivership clearance at under $10 a bottle, it represents outstanding value for a premium, medal-winning Margaret River Chardonnay.

Exceptionally versatile at the table, this Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy seafood pasta, garlic prawns, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, pork with apple sauce, baked brie or triple-cream cheeses, where its creamy texture and vibrant acidity enhance both richness and savoury depth.

Refined, generous and effortlessly enjoyable, the Franklin Tate Estate Margaret River Chardonnay 2021 delivers premium regional character, multiple gold medals and remarkable value in one outstanding release.

Accolades & Awards:

90 Point Rated - Christina Pickard Wine Enthusiast Magazine

"This is a solid example of the Margaret River Chardy style. It's bright and fresh, with notes of lemon, peach and melon tinged with salt seashells and a hint of ginger and toasty oak spice. The lemony freshness continues on the palate, cutting through the lactose texture. The oak flares up on the finish but it's not too intrusive. Food friendly weeknight drinking for now and over the next few years."
