Tasting Notes:

The d'Arenberg Broken Fishplate Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a vibrant cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc bursting with freshness and flavour. Produced by one of Australia's First Families of Wine and a 5 Red Star James Halliday-rated winery, this expressive release was awarded 92 Points by Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot). Its quirky name refers not to fish, but to the nylon "fishplates" on grape harvesters that often break while navigating the steep vineyards of the Adelaide Hills.

Crafted from premium Adelaide Hills fruit, the wine is predominantly fermented in stainless steel, with a small portion matured in aged French oak to enhance texture and complexity. Bright pale straw in colour, it opens with lifted aromas of gooseberry, guava and freshly cut grass. The palate is vibrant and fruit-driven, delivering juicy tropical fruit, citrus and herbaceous notes balanced by crisp natural acidity and a subtle creamy texture that adds depth without sacrificing freshness.

Perfect with fresh oysters, grilled prawns, goat's cheese salad, sushi or lightly spiced Asian dishes, the d'Arenberg Broken Fishplate Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a lively, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc that showcases the purity and elegance of one of Australia's premier cool-climate wine regions.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated Ken Gargett Winepilot

''Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, the team partially fermented a small percentage of the grapes in older French oak in order to add to the texture and complexity. The name refers to part of the machinery used in the vineyards, which looks like a plate and is regularly broken during operations. While it has nothing to do with fish or seafood of any kind, the wine would certainly work with oysters or fresh prawns or pretty much anything one might drag from the ocean. A near transparent lemon, this is a lovely mix of the tropical, floral and saline. Notes of passionfruit and sea breezes are to the fore, with hints of citrus. There is good concentration here in this wine of medium length. A fresh style, this is no shrinking violet with flavours exploding from the glass. Bright and attractive drinking for the next two to three years.''
