Tasting Notes:

Sourced from a premium single vineyard in Gruyere, one of the Yarra Valley’s most prized pockets, this Chardonnay comes from seriously good company - neighbouring names like Yarra Yering, Medhurst and Soumah.

The fruit was once sent to some of the region’s top wineries, but after seeing the quality of wines made from their own vineyard, the growers decided to keep a portion for themselves. The result is a first-generation winery with a clear point to prove, and fruit quality that would normally suggest a very different price tag.

Bright and expressive, opening with aromas of white peach, nectarine, citrus blossom and subtle melon, lifted by hints of cashew and gentle oak spice. The palate is generous yet fresh, showing layers of stone fruit, lemon curd and grapefruit, with a creamy mid-palate texture balanced by crisp acidity and a subtle saline edge. Barrel influence adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit, leading to a clean, structured finish with lingering citrus and nutty undertones.

Accolades & Awards:

95 Point Rated - Russ Gallagher Vino Masters

''Brilliant pale straw in the glass, luminous and inviting. The aromatics are generous and exotic; rock melon, ripe guava and pineapple rise confidently, framed by a subtle savoury edge. The palate is full and powerful, delivering layers of fig, dried apple and preserved citrus. A faint aldehydic complexity adds intrigue, while grapefruit-like phenolic grip provides structure and tension. Oak spice weaves through the richness, and a saline edge emerges on the finish, bringing balance to the wine’s formidable weight. This is not a restrained, minimalist Chardonnay; it is bold, textural and commanding''.

94 Point Rated - Tony Love Wine Pilot

''From Martingale Estate’s Gruyere district vineyard in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, there’s an exciting complexity from nose to tail in this wine. Classic varietal impressions of white nectarine with bouquet touches of vanilla and roast cashew sliding eloquently into a palate that doesn’t get carried away and is more aligned to the subtle attractions of all of the above elements, offering a sophisticated style and finding a clever balance in flavour, structure, and finish. Delivers all the right style points in a most enjoyable framework.''

94 Point Rated - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

''Richly fruited and complex, the bouquet showcases mango, golden peach, citrus peel, vanilla, and roasted hazelnut characters with a savoury pastry nuance. It's concentrated and plush in the mouth, delivering a creamy texture and finely pitched acidity, finishing splendidly long and expansive.''
