Tasting Notes:

Singlefile Wines Great Southern Denmark Family Reserve Chardonnay 2024 is a refined cool-climate Chardonnay sourced from the estate’s Denmark vineyard in Western Australia’s Great Southern region. Planted in 1986 on well-drained Karri loam soils and influenced by a slow ripening maritime climate, the vineyard produces fruit that balances natural acidity with impressive flavour concentration.

Hand-harvested fruit was whole bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barriques, with a portion in new oak. The wine spent nine months in barrel with partial malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring, building texture and complexity while preserving freshness.

In the glass, the wine reveals lifted aromas of grapefruit, nectarine and citrus blossom with subtle French oak nuance. The palate is concentrated yet elegant, delivering vibrant citrus and stone fruit layered with gentle creaminess and a delicate nutty texture from bâtonnage. Bright acidity provides balance and length, finishing refined and persistent.

The pedigree of this wine is reinforced by the previous vintage receiving 96 Points from James Halliday Wine Companion, while the estate itself is a 5 Red Star Halliday-rated winery and was named Ray Jordan’s Producer of the Year 2024.

This powerful yet elegant Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy shellfish dishes or seafood pasta, and will continue to develop complexity in bottle over the next five years.
