Tasting Notes:

The Jim Barry Wines Lodge Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2025 is a benchmark cool-climate Riesling that showcases the purity, precision and longevity for which Clare Valley is renowned. Sourced from the iconic Lodge Hill Vineyard, originally purchased by Jim Barry in 1977, this elevated site sits 480 metres above sea level on the eastern ranges of the Clare Valley, where warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for developing exceptional citrus intensity and vibrant natural acidity.

Gentle pressing followed by immediate cool fermentation preserves the pristine fruit character and aromatic freshness. The bouquet is intensely lifted, revealing concentrated lime juice, kaffir lime zest and sweet cut grass, complemented by delicate hints of spice. The palate is vibrant and energetic, bursting with concentrated lime cordial and juicy citrus flavours, balanced by a subtly sweet-fruited mid-palate. Crisp, focused acidity drives remarkable length and precision, finishing clean, mouth-watering and beautifully refreshing.

One of Australia's most highly acclaimed Rieslings, the 2025 vintage has been awarded a Gold Medal and an outstanding 95 Points at the Royal Sydney Wine Show, a Gold Medal at the Clare Valley Wine Show, 94 Points from Campbell Mattinson of The Wine Front and 92 Points from Huon Hooke of The Real Review. These accolades reinforce Jim Barry Wines' reputation as one of Australia's premier producers of world-class Riesling.

An exceptional match for freshly shucked oysters, grilled prawns, sashimi, Thai cuisine, salt and pepper squid, fresh goat's cheese or citrus-driven seafood dishes, this elegant Clare Valley Riesling is drinking beautifully now and has the structure to reward long-term cellaring.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Pale colour with a green-ish tinge. Appealing lime leaf aroma, a touch of yeastiness, and good intensity on palate with again deep-set lime fruit which lingers on, the finish cleansed and dried by a well-measured grip. Very smart young riesling with a bright future."

91 Point Rated - Mike Bennie Halliday Wine Companion
"Electric riesling! Zippy and zingy, juicy and bright. Lemon-lime Splice, a lick of bath salts, some juniper botanicals and a bit of ozone kicking in. It's an easy-to-like riesling, very Classic Clare in its way, lightweight, refreshing, pure and clean. Missing some X-factor perhaps, but delivers a straight-up rendering of the variety."
