The Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay Brut NV is a sophisticated bottle-fermented sparkling wine that showcases the delicate yet intense flavors produced by fruit sourced from the elevated, cool-climate regions of Adelaide Hills, Alpine Valley, and Eden Valley. These regions are renowned for their ability to produce wines with natural acidity, fresh fruit characters, and a lean, elegant structure—qualities that are essential for creating a high-quality sparkling wine in the tradition of Champagne.
Made with a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the fruit is handpicked in the cool of the night to preserve freshness, then gently pressed off skins shortly after harvest. After a brief cold settling period, the juice undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel, using yeasts sourced from the Champagne region to maintain the fruit’s vibrant character. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle (tirage), and is aged for 28 months before disgorgement and liqueuring, creating a sparkling wine with depth, complexity, and finesse.
In the glass, the wine is tinged with copper hues, inviting you to explore its aromatic profile. The nose presents a delightful combination of biscuit-like notes, paired with ripe strawberry and peach characters. On the palate, the wine is rich and generous, with a creamy mouthfeel that enhances its vibrant vitality. The wine is perfectly balanced, offering a refreshing freshness alongside a smooth, full texture.
This sparkling wine is incredibly versatile, making it equally enjoyable as an aperitif or paired with food. Its complexity and texture complement dishes such as fresh seafood, goat cheese salads, and fried appetizers.
Produced by the 5 Red Star Halliday rated Grant Burge Wines, this sparkling wine reflects the winery’s long-standing commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Steven Creber James Halliday Wine Companion
"Predominantly pinot noir and chardonnay with a small amount of meunier. Made by the transfer method with 24 months on lees. Aromas of fresh bread dough and ripe apple, the palate dry, with strawberry and some aldehyde flavours, and quite vigourous. A touch of sweetness on the finish."
Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Medium brassy-yellow colour, reflecting pinot noir grapes in the mix. The bouquet shows some developed herbal aromas with nougat and a trace of rubber. It's rich and full, harmonious and mouth-filling, with a long tail. It’s clean and dry on the finish with some measured phenollc grip. It's not especially delicate, but all components are in harmony. Impressive value, but chill it well."
