Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced blackpepper infused scents of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice rise out of the glass followed by smoky vanillin cedar and traces of spicy black olives. Bursting with rich fruit the full bodied palate also possesses great underlying structure. The mouth is swamped with blackpepper laced ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice flavours which sit over a backdrop of smoky vanillin cedar, subtle black olive and spice elements. Velvet like yet sturdy tannins, well balanced acidity and a long peppery aftertaste.
The Undercover Shiraz is named in recognition of McLaren Vale’s history of supplying other regions with our finest red grapes. Known as the mid palate of Australia, McLaren Vale fruit is well regarded for its ability to improve the quality and richness of wines from other regions. Early winter in 2014 was wetter than usual and the period from August to early January was very dry with above average temperatures. Following some rain and milder temperatures in January, the 2015 harvest started later that month and was quite condensed, resulting in some fabulous white and red wines.
95 points Sam Kim Wine Orbit 2018
Richly fruited and seductively complex, the bouquet shows blackberry, spiced plum, vanilla, cocoa and roasted hazelnut characters on the nose with hints of olive and spice. The palate offers excellent fruit concentration and intensity, combined with velvety texture and silky tannins, making it sumptuously attractive and lingering.

Huon Hooke Review
The bouquet is dusty, earthy and savoury, with some subtle spice and meaty charcuterie notes. It's medium-bodied at best, with again savoury palate flavours and attractive balance and length. A wine of very good vinosity.
