The Wynns Reframed Coonawarra Shiraz Riesling 2021 is a unique and exceptional wine that pays homage to the history of Wynns Coonawarra Estate. The wine is inspired by the estate's oldest Shiraz vineyards, where a mix of red and white grapes—originally a result of mistaken cuttings—would occasionally appear at crushing. This blend re-creates that tradition with purpose, offering a refreshing twist on the classic Shiraz by incorporating a small percentage of Riesling. Much like the Rhône tradition of adding Viognier to Shiraz, the addition of Riesling enhances the aromatic profile and imparts a softer texture, elevating the floral notes of Coonawarra Shiraz.
The 2021 vintage presents a bright and fresh fruit profile, with lively flavors that combine both softness and energy. The Shiraz provides structure and depth, while the Riesling adds floral aromas and a touch of elegance. This versatile blend is perfect for a wide range of food pairings, offering a delightful balance of fruit and texture that can be enjoyed with everything from grilled meats to lighter dishes like roasted vegetables or fresh salads.
Rated 93 points by Morgan Dunn of Wine Pilot and awarded a Gold Medal at the Limestone Coast Wine Show 2022, this wine is a standout example of Wynns’ winemaking expertise. With a 90-point rating from Huon Hooke of The Real Review, it’s clear that this wine is not only innovative but also highly regarded by critics.
Pair this exceptional Shiraz Riesling blend with dishes like slow-roasted lamb, grilled steak, or barbecued chicken. Its balance of freshness and depth also makes it a perfect match for creamy cheeses or a rich mushroom risotto.

"Sneaky Riesling! Getting into the Shiraz vines again! Hey, it works. Intensely felt Shiraz gets a leg up out of the glass, no doubt by those Riesling aromatics. Notes of blood plum, redcurrant, smashed black pepper and dusty charcoal seem to have grown wings and are searching for a place to nest in your nose. Stacks of energy and concentration on the palate, with a fine acid and tannin profile then hums down the length of the tongue for a cool and juicy finish. Drink slightly chilled to really feel the vitality of the wine."

"Deep, dark red-purple colour, aromas of black fruits and tar, roasted spices including black pepper, the palate medium bodied and intensely focused, tightly bunched, with mild but firm tannins and good length. An elegant, fine style of shiraz with lip-smacking fruit tannins ruling the finish."
