Tasting Notes:

Torbreck Vintners Barossa Valley Cuvée Juveniles GMS 2022 captures the heart of Barossa’s old-vine terroir in a blend that’s as vibrant as it is sophisticated. Composed of 45% Grenache, 36% Mataro, 17% Carignan, and 2% Counoise, this Rhône-inspired red thrives on complexity, freshness, and seamless balance.

The 2022 vintage, shaped by generous winter rains and a remarkably mild summer, yielded fruit with exceptional colour, elevated natural acidity, and fine, elegant tannins. Lower yields—caused by a late-spring hailstorm—only intensified the fruit’s concentration. Grenache leads with wild cherry, pomegranate, and red currant lifted by floral and herbal notes, while Carignan and Counoise add savoury spice and earthy complexity. Mataro brings depth with undertones of beef jerky and Chinese five spice. The medium-bodied palate is built on vibrant acidity and a firm yet silky tannin structure, offering both approachability and long-term aging potential.

Ideal alongside spice-driven cuisines like Korean BBQ or mole-infused Mexican dishes, this red is best served slightly chilled, around 14°C, to fully appreciate its bright fruit and aromatic spice.

Recognized as one of Robert Parker’s Top 100 Wine Estates in the World, Torbreck continues its legacy of crafting exceptional Rhône-style wines from Australia’s premier old-vine vineyards.
