Under diam, this hails from a 40-year-old vineyard in Coonawarra. After an extended maceration, this was pressed directly to French oak hogsheads for 18 months maturation. Inky purple. This is concentrated, plush, focused. The nose offers alluring blackberries, licorice, beef stock, spices, a hint of mint and warm bitumen. Balanced, elegant, intense and very long, with silky tannins. This is one for the long haul. The palate moves to notes of bergamot and mulberries. There is early evidence of the complexity which is surely to come. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years."

"Dark maroon coloured, with this Liquid Mars Bar oak all over the nose. Indeed, that oak is dominant on oak and palate, like liquid coffee and chocolate. It’s berried, so smooth and plush too, all making for this seamless, and quite powerful Cabernet."

"It’s a clean. solid, well-made wine with raspberry, blackcurrant, cola and cedarwood flavours doing most of the grunt work. There are mint and bay leaf notes here too, giving it a clear varietal definition, though what it mostly tastes of is fresh fruit. Tannin is present but not in command; there’s a softness to this wine, an ease, in a flavoursome context."
