The Songlines Estates Bylines McLaren Vale Shiraz 2023 is a world-class example of premium Australian Shiraz, produced by a winery once hailed by Decanter Magazine as “The Latour of McLaren Vale.”

This deeply expressive Shiraz opens with lifted blackberry, blueberry, and spiced plum aromas, enriched by layers of toasted oak, dark chocolate, and subtle spice. The palate is fresh, vibrant, and fruit-driven, showcasing rich dark berry flavours and fine-grained tannins. A silky texture and long, harmonious finish reveal both power and elegance.

Fermented with some whole berries in open-top fermenters, the wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation and spent 12 months in oak, adding complexity without overshadowing the purity of fruit. Carefully blended and filtered before bottling, it’s a polished Shiraz built to impress now or age gracefully.

Awarded a 95 Point Gold Medal by Wine Showcase Magazine, and with previous recognition including Top 3 Shiraz in the World at AWC Vienna, Songlines Estates continues its legacy of crafting exceptional McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Rated 4 out of 5 by The Principal from Consistently Good Although young and still fruit driven this wine is very drinkable and approachable now with an fresh fruit nose. It tastes of red fruits, with aromas of flowers, fresh red berries of raspberry and mulberry and plum. There is also a hint of vanilla on the palate, with mulberry and sweet red fruits and soft tannins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dazza from Great value wine I have previously had Songlines from the same winery and it was full bodied, full flavoured and one of the best value Shiraz I have drank. So I gave this a go. Whilst it doesn’t reach the heights of Songlines, it is still great value. A really nice drop, lots of fruit and good depth for its price tag. I would buy it again.
