Light crimson colour with bright red tinges. Aromas and flavours of dark cherries and blueberries fill the wine, supported by well integrated, sweet oak. The concentrated and medium bodied palate finishes long and intense.

Technical:

For the Old Vine Reserve by Seville Estate, the Pinot Noir is purely sourced from the original 1972 plantings. The block is one acre and produces low yields (1-2 tonnes/acre) of small berries and bunches.

Accolades & Awards:

96 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion

"Vines planted '72, hand-picked and sorted, wild yeast-open fermented with 70% whole berry/30% whole bunch, 15 days on skins, matured in French oak (30% new) for 10 months. Very good colour; old vines are the key to the deep colour, the intense red berry and spice flavours with a foresty undertow ex the whole bunch use."

93 Point Rated - Huon Hook The Real Review

"Light purple/red hue. Very shy, reserved aromas with suggestions of herby, foresty, bunchy influences. There's a touch of celery in the palate, which is lean and light, and very refined. An ethereal pinot, understated, and quite typical of the Yarra. It builds beautiful perfumes when given time in the glass."

93 Point Rated - Campbell Mattinson The Wine Front

Made exclusively from 1972 plantings.

"I had to sit and contemplate this. It has weight, colour, tannin and length but it feels backward and surly; it doesn’t care much for ‘now’. Creamy mouthfeel, ample herb notes, stewed strawberries, flashes of red cherry and the smoked sweetness of meat, cured. We’ll just have to wait and see on this one."
