Tasting Notes:

Starbright ruby red in colour. Medium-bodied wine with fine balance. Sweet red cherry fruits and subtle forest floor complexity with a touch of cedar oak carried on a silken palate.

Technical:

The 2013 vintage was an unpredictable season with dramatic extremes in weather conditions; the growing season began with above average winter rainfall, followed by a temperature spike mid-August, resulting in an early start to the growing season. Mother Nature then produced cool weather conditions for the three months of spring. In yet another dramatic change the sun came out for the summer holidays and a period of 10 days in late January saw unprecedented heat accelerate white grape ripeness to fruition, approximately 3 weeks before the norm. A month of mild conditions in March and the cool climate Great Southern was again back in equilibrium, allowing for optimal ripeness and great fruit intensity.
