Tasting Notes:

Bright crimson purple in colour. Clean and fragrant aromas with intense black fruits, bay leaf & a hint of violets. The palate is medium to full-bodied, & awash with juicy blackcurrant pastille & dark fruit characters; fresh, balanced acidity; ripe, fine tannins & a persistent satisfying finish. Best enjoyed over the next five to eight years.


Technical:

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62.6% - for structure & flavour), Merlot (18.5% - for body & softness). Cabernet Franc (7.8% - for perfume and smoothness), Malbec (7.4% - for colour & richness), & Petit Verdot (3.7% - for spice & boldness). All of the varieties were fermented separately in a mix of open and closed fermenters, ranging from between 8 to 21 days on skins. Further aging in oak in separate batches took place until blending. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in barrel (12% new French).

Absolutely delicious and quite amazing for a sub-$20 red – wonderful value. Colour of bright crimson before aromas of spice and a gravelly note. Florals, red fruits, some mulberries too and then a lovely choc/cherry character takes over with pleasing aromatics throughout. The palate is soft with decent length and juicy acidity. And if all this was not enough, a note of strawberries emerges on the finish. This is for drinking now but it won’t mind if you do happen to put a few away for a year or two.'
