Intense richness; deep, dark purple. Pure Eden Valley Shiraz on the nose; deep, dark and brooding. Thick set, broad shouldered and a beautiful perfume of blueberries covered in milk chocolate and clove-cinnamon-cedar oak with notes of lifted eucalyptus and white pepper. A powerful combination full of rich dark fruit that is very typical of the cooler Eden Valley. A wave of clove-cinnamon-cedar oak mixed with a hint of fresh thyme and a full, round velvety finish.
The Balthasar Shiraz, one of Grant Burge’s Wines of Distinction, is sourced from the Eden Valley region of the Barossa, showcasing elegance and varietal definition from this cooler part of the district. This wine showcases the fruit power that Eden Valley can deliver. We aim to preserve this fruit through winemaking and maturation, Craig Stansborough, Chief Winemaker.

“Heady and perfumed with pomegranate, black pepper, plush black cherry and spiced liquorice, while the luscious, textured palate is sleek with chocolate tannins, seamless red fruit and seductive oak.”

"20yo vines. Fermented with both wild and cultured yeasts. Matured 18 months in 38% new French oak hogsheads and puncheons. A vibrant purple hue heralds a deep core of compact, crunchy blackberry fruit. Eden Valley spice wafts through a long finish, impeccably directed by finely crafted tannins, backed sensitively by high-cocoa dark chocolate oak. Consummately engineered for the cellar."
92 Point Rated - Decanter Magazine
"Plump and jolly, this is surprisingly sweet, uncomplicated Shiraz from a pair of Eden Valley vineyards. With a fulsome nose of violets over bright redcurrant and mulberry, the flavours are plush and voluptuous from its sassy entry all through the mid palate, but then there’s a lick of shale and granite as it quickly draws to a tight finish. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030"
