Tasting Notes:

Deep black/purple. Concentrated red plum and blackberry fruit are paramount with notes of white pepper, cassis and oak. Full bodied with rich, sweet-fruit flavours of plum, blackberry and plenty of firm, balanced tannin and very good length. There is a persistent oak backbone, which is quite understated, yet balanced with the natural fruit flavour.

Technical:

The grapes for this wine came largely from three vineyards between the slopes above Willunga and the Vale floor. After a cold soak for several days and fermentation in open fermenters, to maximize colour and flavour, the wine was matured in used and a small proportion of new French barrels for 24 months.

A great wine to drink in its youth upon release but will continue to develop more complexity over the next decade.
