Black-purple crimson Lifted, charismatic and offering waves of youthful primary concentration and savoury complexity evolution in the glass right from the first moment of impression. Notes of game, roast meat, olive tapenade and pure blueberry quickly begin to nuance crushed rock and flinty characters, while a deeply recessed, brooding sense of sheer power and racy pungency is but a silhouette of its potential. Deeply recessed layers of smokey bacon fat and blueberry mingle with cigar tobacco, subtle Asian spices and lavender in what is a very delicate yet an unusually approachable palate style. Highly polished yet deeply recessed tannin hint toward an ultra fine boned structure with density and concentration of character. Savoury complexities like cherry skin, black olive and jasmine tea are magically folded away like origami within the fine boned structure, laced with natural acidity
Clarendon Hills is the living vision of one of the world's greatest Shiraz winemakers, Roman Bratasiuk. The dream was realised in 1990 and is now home to some of the most outstanding and hard to get single vineyard wines in Australia. The Astralis is the flagship wine in the Clarendon Hills portfolio, and while this vineyard is not treated any differently to the others, it garners the most worldwide attention due to its incredible expression and timeless elegance. From an Easterly aspect and planted on a 45 degree ascending slope, Australis has phenomenal varietal length and will repay the patient cellarer for more than 15 years.

"The fitting capstone to what was a terrific vintage for Clarendon Hills, the 2015 Astralis Syrah is destined to become a McLaren Vale legend. Remarkably precise, complex and pristine aromas of anise, pepper, mint and blueberries lead the way. They're followed by a full-bodied yet impeccably ripe palate that's dense and concentrated yet supple, leading into a velvety, nearly endless finish. Wow. Drink Date 2022 - 2040."

"Almost opaque, still with purple hues. Dense and rich. Cherry Ripe - jammy fruit, dark chocolate and coconut threads. Almost syrupy texture, fine tannin and confronting acidity. No doubting its freshness or its ability to cellar long term."
