Tasting Notes:

With six generations of Barossa heritage behind it, the Bethany First Village Shiraz 2022 captures the essence of old-vine pedigree and modern winemaking finesse. This family-owned, 5 Red Star Halliday-rated winery has produced a beautifully crafted Shiraz from hand-selected parcels, each fermented and matured in oak hogsheads before final blending and resting in stainless steel for a seamless integration of flavour.

In the glass, it pours a deep black-purple hue with vibrant violet flashes. Aromas of blackberries, cherries, and dense dark berry fruits rise up, supported by earthy tones, subtle cayenne spice, and a whisper of dark chocolate. The palate is plush and bold yet refined, showing serious depth with layers of black cherry, wild berry, and cocoa-dusted tannin glide. A 92 Point-rated wine by Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion), it offers impressive power and length, carried by silky tannins and a lingering finish laced with cinnamon and toasted oak.

Following in the footsteps of its 93 Point-rated predecessor (Aaron Brasher, The Real Review), this 2022 vintage is a stellar choice for lovers of structured, fruit-driven Barossa Shiraz. Enjoy with braised beef short ribs, grilled lamb backstrap, or a hearty mushroom risotto for a perfect match.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated, Dave Brookes Halliday Wine Companion

"Bright crimson with fruit tones of lifted red plum, mulberry and forest berries with touches of milk chocolate, baking spices, panforte, cherry clafoutis and earth. It makes for good value, mid-weighted drinking with a fine, sandy tannin grip and a flourish of red fruits on the exit."
