Tasting Notes:

Powerful and concentrated wine that epitomises modern Barossa Shiraz with its deep, near-black colour and exceptional intensity. The aromatic profile is highly complex, offering a captivating bouquet of blackberry, plum, and blueberry layered with floral notes of violets and potpourri, as well as savoury hints of graphite, cloves, charcuterie, and tapenade. On the palate, the wine delivers a lavish experience of dark fruit intensity supported by rich notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, and mocha, with a refined touch of toasty vanillin oak from its 14–16 months in French oak barrels.

Accolades & Awards:

97 Point Rated - Ray Jordan

"Exquisite. This is what modern Barossa shiraz is all about. It brings the power and concentrated opulence firmly into the frame, but then it gently caresses and controls it in a more refined presentation. These are words you might not have read about old-time Barossa shiraz. Deep and concentrated power with rich layered dark fruit, perfectly balanced with fine-grained oak and silky fine tannins. It’s awash with dark fruits cascading down through to a long finish. Cellar: 10 years."

97 Point Rated - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Gorgeously composed with power and grace, the wine shows dark fruit richness, cake spice, toasty oak, smoked game, and dark chocolate aromas on the nose. The concentrated palate exhibits impressive weight and persistence, enhanced by velvety texture and finely infused tannins. It’s bold and sumptuous with refinement and harmony, making it seductively appealing and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2040."

95 Point Rated - Ken Gargett

"Another special Barossa Shiraz, from old vines, low yields and a fabulous vintage. If you love big, bold Barossa reds, splash out! Again, under cork and also the hefty bottle. This is near black in colour. Excellent oak integration, still melding but adding a gorgeous vanillin note to the wine. On the nose, we have chocolate, plums, graphite, black fruits, axle grease, cloves, charcuterie, blueberries and mulberries. Concentration throughout, the intensity never wavers. Sleek tannins and a supple texture, formidable stuff. Immaculate balance and impressive length, if you can leave this in the cellar for three to five years before opening one, you won’t regret it. Then enjoy for the following ten to twenty years. Cracking stuff."

94 Point Rated - Ned Goodwin MW

"More succulent, poised and drinkable than past efforts that I recall. Fresh, too. This address still crafts older school, richly flavoured wines to be sure. However, the oak is better quality, while the bumptious darker berry accents, clove, violet and anise notes feel compressed into a well hewn sheath of tension. There is nothing pushed, drying or excessive. A wine that will reward established devotees of Barossa while, perhaps, drawing a new audience. A delicious, bright, full bodied expression. Well done."

94 Point Rated - Patrick Eckel

"Expressive raspberry and plum nose with cedar oak. Full bodied, juicy black and red fruit backed by dark chocolate savoury texture; excellent length."
