Tasting Notes:

The Torbreck Vintners Cuvée Juveniles GMS 2024 is a vibrant and character-filled Rhône-style blend that captures the elegance, spice and energy of the outstanding 2024 Barossa vintage. Produced by one of Australia’s most internationally acclaimed wineries, this release combines old-vine Grenache with a carefully balanced mix of Mataro, Carignan, Counoise and Shiraz, creating a medium-bodied red that is both expressive and effortlessly drinkable. The mild to warm growing season, supported by timely spring rainfall and calm flowering conditions, allowed exceptional flavour development and aromatic lift across the vineyards, while a cooler finish to harvest enhanced freshness, colour and structure.

In the glass, the wine shines with a vivid magenta hue and bright ruby highlights. Grenache takes centre stage aromatically, delivering lifted florals and vibrant red fruit characters of red cherry, red currant and ripe red plum. The inclusion of Rhône varietals Carignan and Counoise introduces savoury spice and complexity, while Mataro contributes earthy notes of beef jerky, Chinese five spice and subtle gamey depth. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, juicy and beautifully balanced, with lively natural acidity carrying layers of fresh red berry fruit through to a long, fragrant and gently spicy finish. Compared to previous vintages, the 2024 release shows even greater aromatic precision and freshness while maintaining the hallmark savoury complexity that defines this blend.

Comprising 48% Grenache, 31% Mataro, 10% Carignan, 6% Counoise and 5% Shiraz, this release highlights Torbreck’s mastery of Rhône-inspired winemaking. Awarded 91 Points by Erin Larkin for Wine Advocate, it follows the pedigree of the previous vintage, which earned an impressive 94 Points from James Suckling. Torbreck itself continues to hold elite status as one of the World’s Top 100 Wine Estates according to Robert Parker and remains a prestigious 5 Red Star Rated Winery in the James Halliday Wine Companion.

Designed for enjoyment from release and over the next seven years, this versatile Barossa blend is outstanding with spicy Asian dishes, Mexican cuisine, chargrilled lamb, slow-cooked pork, smoky barbecue or Mediterranean-style roasted vegetables, where its savoury spice and vibrant fruit profile shine beautifully.

Accolades & Awards:

91 Point Rated - Erin Larkin Wine Advocate

"The 2024 Cuvée Juveniles leads with pomegranate and strawberry, licorice, dried bay leaf and tapenade. In the mouth, the wine is pretty, fresh, a little slippery and loaded with flavor, driven by savory tannin. Medium-bodied, spicy and fine, it's a blend of 48% Grenache, 31% Mataro (for those playing at home, i.e., not Australia or Portugal, this is Mourvèdre or Monastrell), 10% Carignan, 6% Counoise and the balance Shiraz. The wine was matured in large-format older oak and stainless steel where possible in order to maintain and protect the freshness and detail in the fruit. 15% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."
