St Hallett Higher Earth Eden Valley Syrah 2022 is an elegant, cool-climate expression sourced exclusively from high-altitude vineyards across Eden Valley. The mild 2022 vintage produced fruit with impressive aromatic intensity, natural acidity and finesse, while maturation in French oak puncheons, older French oak and Foudre added complexity without overwhelming the fruit.


The wine opens with layers of red fruits, alpine strawberry and sweet cherry, complemented by bracken, wintergreen and warming spice. The palate combines impressive fruit concentration with fine, lingering tannins and beautifully integrated oak, creating a graceful Syrah with excellent depth, balance and length. Awarded 95 Points by Dave Brookes for the Halliday Wine Companion and 93 Points by Angus Hughson for Vinous, it continues the pedigree of a range whose previous vintage received 96 Points from Huon Hooke of The Real Review.


A superb match for roast lamb, grilled beef, duck, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses, with the structure and balance to continue developing beautifully in the cellar.

It's concentrated, luscious and enduring with layers of spice, sage, roasting meats, licorice and crushed stone. Impeccable, fine long-chain tannins provide ample support. The wine sails true on lacy mineral rails, finishing long, vibrant and just delicious.


93 Point Rated - Angus Hughson Vinous

This delightful and nuanced 2022 Shiraz Higher Earth opens up with complex and engaging aromas of blackberry and roasted meats with a dusting of Middle Eastern spices. Expressive, juicy and mid-weight with a solid core of upfront tannins before filling out a fresh and tight finish. Young and will build nicely.
