Medium red with purple hints. The nose shows spicy notes with red berries and cedary oak. The palate is medium bodied. Sweet rich fruit and soft velvet tannins result in a well structured wine with a long dry finish.
The 2013 Redman Shiraz is made from grapes grown on vines that are more than 40-years-old on the Redman family vineyards in the heart of Coonawarra.
The conditions leading into the 2013 vintage were excellent, with good winter rains and a warm fast flowering period in late spring. A good fruit set resulted in average crop levels. Summer was warm and dry, with a cool autumn allowing the grapes to ripen to optimum maturity.
The Shiraz grapes were harvested during the third week of March. The fruit showed excellent flavour and varietal definition. The grapes were mechanically harvested and crushed in the field. Initial fermentation was carried out in open fermenting tanks and the cap was hand plunged twice a day.
The wine completed fermentation on skins, and was then transferred to barrels. The wine was bottled, in February 2015, after 18 months ageing in American and French oak hogsheads.
94 Points QWine
Sumptuous medium bodied red and dark fruits with a cordon of cedar neatly affixed. A tempered wave of spice rolls through effortlessly. The fruit is soft and moreish dripping with approachability yet still has the bones of a wine to age medium term. Bang the bargain drum hard!

91 Points Jeremy Oliver
Elegant and finely balanced, this full to medium-bodied Shiraz already reveals some evolution of flavour in the meaty, faintly earthy notes beneath its spicy aromas of dark plums, blackberries and redcurrants. Supported by a drying, fine-grained extract, its lively palate of briary small fruits black, blue and red is gently oaked and finished with a gentle acidity. An older Coonawarra style.
90 Points James Halliday
Machine-harvested, open and closed fermenters 5 days, matured in 20% new French oak and 80% new and used French and American oak. Its gold medal at the Limestone Coast Wine Show 2015 is, well, surprising; the colour is relatively light, and the tannins are yet to integrate with the fruit on the light to medium-bodied palate despite 12-14 months in barrel. Its cardinal virtues are its controlled alcohol and freshness.
Highly Rated Huon Hooke
Medium to full red colour with the faintest purple tinge. The bouquet evokes pine-needles and pepper, and is straightforward; the palate very firm and again fairly plain. It could reward further ageing.
