The palate is medium bodied with plush dark fruit flowing through the entry before fine tannins and savoury spice tighten the wine into a smooth and structured frame. Notes of mocha, pepper and earthy complexity build through the mid-palate with excellent persistence, while balanced acidity keeps the wine lively and composed. The finish is long, polished and deeply flavoured.

"The fruit sourcing, fermentation and maturation reflect that undertaken by the 2015 Shiraz. Wonderful to see such well-priced wines on the market after such a lengthy stint in the cellar. Very dark magenta, this wine is well structured with a seductive texture and very impressive length. Finely balanced right through to satiny tannins and a flick of acidity, it is mature but still fresh. The nose gives aromas of florals, cassis, chocolate, cold tea, blackberries and dried herbs, while we have excellent oak integration. Love it. Enjoy this cracking Coonawarra Shiraz over the next ten to fifteen years. Great buying."

There’s plenty of secondary character here but so too is there ample juicy fruit."

"It spent a not-insignificant 40 months in a combination of French and American oak. Fruit is still the champion here, but oak too has a clear presence. It tastes mostly of plum, redcurrant and choc-mint and it feels supple and smooth throughout. There is indeed some warmth to the finish but the alcohol reading remains mostly a concern in numbers only; the svelte nature of the fruit and oak is the main impression."
