Indigo Vineyard Blue Label Beechworth Pinot Noir 2022 is a delicate cool-climate expression from the elevated Beechworth region in Victoria. Despite a challenging La Niña-influenced season with cooler temperatures and high rainfall, careful vineyard management and selective harvesting produced fruit of excellent purity and aromatic intensity. Hand-picked fruit with around 30% whole bunch fermentation was vinified with gentle plunging and pump-overs before maturing for 10 months in predominantly large French oak foudre, allowing the vineyard character to remain the focus.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby hue with lifted aromas of raspberry, strawberry and delicate clove spice. The palate is light-bodied and vibrant, revealing fresh red berry fruit layered with subtle savoury notes and a lingering leafy complexity that adds finesse and balance through the finish.
This elegant Pinot Noir has been awarded 93 Points by Jeni Port (Halliday Wine Companion), with the previous vintage receiving 95 Points from James Halliday, while the estate itself holds an impressive 5 Red Star rating from Halliday Wine Companion, confirming its reputation as a multi-award-winning Beechworth producer.
Its bright fruit and gentle structure pair beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or a relaxed charcuterie platter.
93 Point Rated - Jeni Port Halliday Wine Companion
"Shiraz and pinot noir duke it out for top red wine spot in Beechworth and they're hard to separate, especially in a year like 2022. Pinot shines here, quite literally, in glistening red cherry hues. The scent is aromatic and sweet in wild raspberry, cherry, plum, clove. Combines a purity of fruit with a touch of earthy, leafy savouriness, bringing added depth to the palate. Structurally firm and well-textured, it remains fresh, full of energy. It should do well in the journey ahead."
