Tasting Notes:

Grant Burge Corryton Park Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a refined and powerful expression of Barossa Valley Cabernet, sourced from one of the region’s highest and coolest vineyard sites near Mount Crawford. This historic estate, established over 150 years ago, provides ideal conditions for producing Cabernet of finesse, depth and complexity, with fruit also selected from complementary parcels across the Barossa Valley floor to enhance balance and structure.

In the glass, the wine reveals a deep crimson hue, opening with layered aromas of blackcurrant, cassis and black cherry, intertwined with notes of mint chocolate, subtle spice and earthy undertones. The palate is beautifully structured and moderately weighted, yet delivers impressive intensity, with dense dark fruit flavours supported by tight, finely woven tannins. Extended maceration and 18 months maturation in French oak hogsheads bring richness, softness and integration, while a line of natural acidity draws the tannins inward, creating a velvety, concentrated mouthfeel. The finish is long, even and persistent, marked by firm yet balanced tannins and a polished sense of control. With Double Gold and 91 points from the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge and 92 points from Dave Brookes in the Halliday Wine Companion seamlessly woven into its pedigree, this is a Cabernet that reflects both regional character and award-winning quality, further reinforced by Grant Burge being named Barossa Winemaker of the Year 2022.

This Cabernet pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled steak, slow-cooked beef or aged hard cheeses, where its structure, depth and savoury complexity elevate every dish.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated - Dave Brookes Halliday Wine Companion

Rich blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherry fruits cut with hints of drying meadow herbs, olive tapenade, clove, mace, roast meats, choc-mint, cedar, graphite and earth. Meaty black fruits with a savoury, supple palate shape, fine, tight tannins and bright sour cherry acidity on the finish.

91 Point Rated - Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2024

Rich red colour with ruby reflections. Ripe black fruit on the nose, with hints of undergrowth and earth. The palate is deliciously fleshy, with invigorating, sweet tannins complementing the fruit admirably. A fine, solar vintage.
