The Chapman Grove Reserve Margaret River Merlot 2017 is a beautifully matured red from a 5 Red Star Halliday-rated winery. Established by wine lover Ron Fraser, Chapman Grove has built a strong reputation for producing premium wines that showcase the quality and character of Margaret River.
Deep dark cherry in colour, the wine opens with aromas of red and black fruits alongside subtle forest floor complexity. The palate is rich and broad, with generous dark fruit flavours supported by firm, structured tannins and the added complexity that comes with bottle age. This is a serious, structured style of Merlot rather than a soft, simple expression, making it an excellent match for beef lasagne, roast meats or mature cheeses.
Rated 93 Points & 5 Stars by Sam Kim Wine Orbit and 91 Points by Ray Jordan Wine Pilot, this mature Margaret River Merlot offers exceptional value at under half price.

"Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, thyme, game, and toasted almond characters. This leads to a medium-full-bodied palate offering silky flow backed by well-balanced tannins, finishing lingering and pleasingly dry. At its best: now to 2029. $40.00. www.chapmangrove.com.au. March 2025."

''An elegantly crafted Merlot showing attractive characters with a minerally, slightly oyster shell character permeating on the palate especially. Red fruit still lifting but with the first hints of leathery development adding complexity. Light to medium bodied but with excellent fruit qualities. Make sure you let it breathe to release these flavours.''
Jane Faulkner Halliday Wine CompanionĀ
''An attractive plump and plummy wine with cassis, currants and a dusty-warm earth aroma throughout. Tart and tangy with a slight green edge across the palate with grippy tannins.''
